There are bunch of artsy, musical or wordsy ways to honor your friends, customers and associates for helping protect our exquisite biosphere. So whether you use your talents to make EarthEs from scratch, or get your EarthEs from here or elsewhere, have a great time cheering on friends and others when they take those eco actions.
Here are some excellent ways to create or design your own eco rewards::
Cheer on or toast a green friend or customer with some cool words, poetry, song or a short cheer for an eco action they have take. >>
Ring the Bell for a customer or a friend when they do something eco sweet. Businesses can have a little bell, a chime, a drinking glass and spoon, a cow bell or something else for the checkout clerk to *ring* when a customer shows they have taken an eco action. Customer eco actions might include bringing their own bag, bringing reusable containers, biking to the store or donating to a eco charity box at the checkstand. >>
Read an inspiring poem or rad story to an eco friend or associate.
Draw a picture (even if it is only some stick figures doing something fun) or how about a nice looking XO (drawn with a human as the X, and the Earth as the O) on a napkin. A picture could even be one torn from a magazine that you add some nice words to it such as "thank you for riding your bike for our sweet mother Earth".
Take a friend out (or in at home) to eat, to see a movie or a play.
Sing or playing a CD or MP3 with a song that you dedicate to an eco friend.
Lead an audience or group in a cheer to salute the makers of a green movie, symposium or other meetings -- even if you were not on the agenda to do so. Be one of the brave, EarthE cheerleaders in your town. >>
Tear-out a picture from a magazine, write "thank you for being sweet to our biosphere", add an XO, and then give it to a friend to honor them for an ecological choice they have made.
Dance or "motor boat" with someone to thank them for an eco action.
Draw or paint a picture to honor an eco friend -- even if the picture is only stick figures on a napkin.
Invite a person on a walk, bike or ride to an inspiring place close to home.
Create and tell an imaginative adventure journey or arm-chair vacation.
Speak EarthE for the people and creatures of the future.**
Give a hand or shoulder massage, or back-scratch.
Handmake or buy unique gifts to give eco friends.
Write the eco XOXO (drawn with a human as the X, and the Earth as the O) on a cool looking picture, and then give it to an eco friend.
We are going to start three EarthE Honors guilds for artists/producers, musicians and writers. To help us get em rolling and design the guild cards, contact Stele.
There are lots of places to find art, pics, videos and music that you can give to friends to thank them for taking ecological actions::
• For pics and art, check out Flickr.com [i.e. The Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club's Daily Ray of Hope, V.I.Planet groups] and Photobucket.com.
• For e-cards, go to Care2.com/ecards or Nature.org.
• For videos, go to youtube.com -- a lot of the Greenpeace, NRDC and ViroPop videos are superb.
• For music gifts, check out rhapsody.com.
Throwing a party to honor a person's eco actions or lifestyle is no less relevant than the other things we celebrate and give gifts for -- such as birthdays, new jobs, and holidays.
Used eco wisely, buying something to salute friends or others for their green actions is super fine too -- like a organic tea, a bike light, an organic meal or a movie.
You decide whether its a simple EarthE handshake, a song that you sing, a witty thank you note, an environmental award that you print out, an EarthE party or picnic, something from the junk drawer, or even an EarthE kiss.
Whatever way you choose, have fun celebrating and honoring friends and others for taking actions to help our planet.
** Speak EarthE is a creative way to honor others for their eco actions by speaking for the other lifeforms and future peoples of our planet, and expressing their possible perspective, emotions and gratitude for our eco actions.
