	Hello Eco Conscious Business:: EarthE Money is the global eco currency that people (and organizations) can use to reward others for taking environmental actions that help protect our sweet planet. Participating businesses are offering an EARTHE Credit in exchange for signed EarthE Money as a way to honor environmental customers who have received EarthE Money for their eco actions. The EarthE Credit you choose to offer customers may include an EarthE Discount, EarthE Handshake, EarthE Kiss, EarthE Words and/or other EarthE Arts. Customers must bring in signed EarthE Money that has been awarded to them by friends or others -- for an environmental action they have taken in order to receive an EarthE Credit from your business. To start offering an EarthE Credit at your business, simply print, fill-out and post the GET EARTHE sign at your business. You can print these little 4.25" x 5.5" signs at www.earthe.org/CreditSign.pdf [PDF version; easy to print; 1500K], or at www.earthe.org/CreditSign.htm [HTML version; 700K]. To fill-out your GET EARTHE Credit sign, write the Credit/ discount that you have decided to offer on the first blank line, and then your business's name on the bottom. Below is an example of how to fill-out your EarthE Credit sign. Print and Post Tips :: The sign looks best if it is printed on heavier paper, and laminated, or covered with clear packing tape. To make some nice table-tents, put some double-sided tape near the signs' fold-line. Once you have made (or received) your signs, post them on your front door, by the cash register, and elsewhere. The signs describe how the EarthE Credit works in a way that customers and employees can quickly understand. Print your GET EARTHE Credit sign at www.earthe.org/CreditSign.pdf or www.earthe.org/CreditSign.htm. Order Your Signs :: We will be happy to make your signs for you if you make a donation via Paypal or credit card of any amount to EarthE Honors. Once we have received your donation, we will fill-out, laminate and send you four, double-sided, good looking 4.25" x 5.5" Get EarthE Credit signs in the mail. Please be sure to tell us what EarthE Credit you want to offer your customers so we can add it to your signs. Click here to make a donation via Paypal or credit card. Size and Kind Of Credit:: The Credit(s) your business offers is up to you. In general, current businesses that are participating are giving a sales discount, and the EarthE Handshake, as their Credit. Current discounts offered range from 5 cents to 25% off. The most common discount is "Up to 10% Off". We hope you will consider a discount that states "Up to 15% Off" or "Up to 20% Off". [Some businesses find that 10% discounts are seldom utilized.] If you prefer to limit your EarthE Credit to specific items or to a specific day of the week that's fine too. One business limits their Credit to one item only. However, 90% of the EarthE businesses that give EarthE Credits have signed up have not set such limitations. By the way, the reason we keep calling it an EarthE Credit -- and not EarthE Discount -- is because businesses may choose to honor their environmental customers in ways that do not include a discount. As well a simple "thank you", this "credit" might include the EarthE Handshake or EarthE Kiss. Biz Directory:: Once your business starts giving EarthE Credits, contact us if you want us to add you to the EARTHE / XO EARTH BUSINESS DIRECTORY. Signed EarthE Money:: To be valid for a Credit at your store, EarthE Money should have the handwritten name of the person who it was given too, the eco action they are being honored for, and the signature of the presenter. The person who received the EarthE Money award is the only one who can present it to a business for a Credit. Offer Blank EarthE Money To Customers: Businesses are encouraged to give out blank EarthE Money to customers. Giving out blank EarthE Money helps bring in new eco customers via the EarthE Credit that your store offers, and will help get your EarthE Credit rolling. To print EarthE Money in color -- or black and white -- to give to your customers, go to the EarthE Money section on the EarthE.org home page. When giving out blank EarthE Money to customers you can say, "We like to give a 10% EarthE Credit (discount) to people who have been awarded EarthE Money for an eco action they have taken. So if you would like, award this EarthE Money to one of your friends for an eco action they have taken by writing their name, the eco action they have taken, and your signature on this EarthE Money. They can then come in and get our 10% EarthE Credit (discount)." When a customer brings in EarthE Money, check to see that it has been properly filled-out. It should have the person's name, the eco action they have taken and the signature of the person that awarded it to them. Then thank them for the eco action they have taken, and give them the Credit (discount). Ask clerks to put the EarthE Money they receive for a Credit (discount) in the cash register. The manager or owner can then verify why the Credit (discount) was given when reconciling the drawer. The EarthE Money received can be "re-set" so it can be given out again by the business. To do so, draw stars, scribbles or a check mark over the name, eco action taken, and the signature. Clerks can then give out the "re-set" EarthE Money to customers at the register. EarthE Money Availability: The blank EarthE Money that is being circulated can be printed for free at WWW.EARTHE.ORG, and is printed in newspapers and magazine at times. Custom EarthE Money:: We will design some EarthE Money that has *your business's name on it* if you make a donation of any amount to EarthE.org. You will then be able to print-out and give EarthE Money with your business's name on it to your customers. It will say, "Sponsor: Your Business Name" on the bottom of your custom EarthE Money. You will be able to print it for free via a web link we give you. We can also mail some of the custom EarthE Money that has your business name on it to you for a donation. EarthE Money Fast, Slow and Challenge:: The three kinds of EarthE Money that may be presented for a Credit are worded and look very similar, and they all work the same way. 'Fast' EarthE Money does not have a place to write in details on the front. Therefore, to receive a Credit with Fast EarthE Money, the person's name, an eco action they are being honored for, and the signature of the presenter needs to be written on the back. 'Slow' EarthE Money and 'Challenge' EarthE Money has a place on the front to write-in the person's name, an eco action they are being honored for, and the signature of the presenter/verifier. Fake EarthEs:: The great news is that we have only heard of one customer in 18 months that has tried to abuse the EarthE Credit! However, because the EarthE Credit program is an honor system, it is possible that someone else will forge their own EarthE Money award. Therefore, businesses offering a discount may want to add "UP TO" in front of their discount xx% offered. Then, if someone appears to be abusing the Credit, the clerk or manager can limit the Credit being given to that person. Opting Out:: To stop giving EarthE Credits, simply remove your Get EarthE signs at your business location. Then contact us and we will remove your name from the EARTHE BUSINESS DIRECTORY Marketing and Press:: We will contact local press and media to get coverage for the EarthE Credit in your area. We encourage the media to announce participating businesses in their coverage. To stretch your own business's advertising and PR dollars, consider teaming up with other EarthE businesses to announce that you are giving EarthE Credits via joint advertising and joint press releases. One of our favorite ad layouts is a newspaper ad with a single, blank EarthE Money note and the names of local businesses that accepts them for a Credit below it. Individuals can cut the EarthE Money out of the newspaper, fill it out and award it to a friend for their eco actions. The friend can then bring it to your store for a Credit. This is a very eco friendly way to bring in new customers. We will lay-out this ad for you for free if you want.
